April 14, 2008 The MS in Forensic Sciences program has options in Criminalistics, Forensic Nursing, and Technical Investigations. The program was implemented by the University of Central Oklahoma in the Spring of 2000 and now has over 100 graduates. The curriculum was developed with input from forensic laboratory staff, investigators, forensic nurses, legal practitioners, university faculty, and many others to meet the needs of the forensic community. This website provides a description of each program option, course descriptions, admission requirements, an outline of the admission process, and application forms. If additional information is needed, please contact Dana Rundle at:
Dana Rundle, PhD we will be accepting applications for the Fall 2008 class on a stand by basis until July 1, 2008. The application materials must contain the Application for Admission to the Jackson College of Graduate Studies and Research, official transcripts from each school you have attended, and a copy of satisfactory GRE scores. Students should be aware that it may take 6 or more weeks for the University to receive your GRE scores and transcripts, you should plan ahead to be sure the scores arrive by the application deadline. Prospective students should be aware that most job applicants in this field will be required to undergo extensive background checks and must be prepared to answer questions about previous or current illegal activities prior to being offered employment in this field. Therefore, a student must weigh these issues into a decision to enter a law enforcement profession before entering a forensic science training program. The University of Central Oklahoma has committed to building a Forensic Science Institute on our campus. The Institute Director will be Dr. Dwight Adams, former FBI Laboratory Director in Quantico, VA. In addition, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has recently moved into a 60,000 ft2 laboratory across the street from our campus. This is an exciting time for Forensic Science at the University of Central Oklahoma as new opportunities will be created through the Institute and by our close relationship with OSBI. I invite you to become a part of this program and please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns about your future at the University of Central Oklahoma. Sincerely,
Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry Masters of Science in Forensic Sciences
