Purpose of the Board    The Purpose of the Forensic Science Advisory Board is to provide input concerning the Forensic Science programs at the University of Central Oklahoma to ensure that they meet the needs of the students and the forensic science community.

Responsibilities of the Board

 

 

1. 

To meet at least twice annually to review the Forensic Science program at UCO.
 

 

2.   

To provide recommendations concerning curricular changes.
 

 

3. 

To aid in program assessment.
 

 

4.   

To provide input concerning changing needs in the forensic community.
 

 

5. 

To provide help in securing resources to support the program.
 

 

6.   

To assist in faculty and student recruitment.

 

 

Board Membership and Terms 

 

Membership - The membership of the Advisory Board will consist of at least 9 members consisting at a mimimum of representing:

 

 

1. 

Department of Chemistry at UCO

 

 

2.   

Department of Nursing at UCO

 

 

3. 

Department of Sociology/Criminal Justice

 

 

4.   

Analysts (Criminalist)

 

 

5. 

Forensic Nursing

 

 

6.   

Crime Scene Investigators

 

 

7. 

Lab Directors

 

 

8.

Legal (judicial, DA, criminal lawyers, etc.)

 

 

9.

Other

 

Terms 

 

 

1. 

Board members shall serve for three years.  To ensure continuity the initial board terms shall be for 1, 2, or 3 years as determined by casting lots.

 

 

2.   

Subsequent appointments shall be for three-year terms.

 

 

3. 

Appointments shall be made by the Board Chair with approval of the Board.

 

 

4.   

If a board member cannot complete a term, a replacement shall be appointed provided there is at least one full year remaining in the term.

 

 

5. 

The chair of the Advisory Board is to be elected from the Board Membership.  

 

Meeting time

 

 

 1.

Meetings shall occur at least every 6 months.

 

 

 2. 

The date, time and location shall be determined by the Board Chair

   
 

Meeting Format

 

 

1.

An agenda shall be prepared and followed.

 

 

2. 

Meetings will generally be informal.
